Elias Kasozi Byekwaso joined AFRITAC East as an Advisor, Monetary policy and Payment Systems in September 2011, after an illustrious 30 years carrier at the Bank of Uganda, where he rose through the ranks to become Executive Director, Operations. Mr. Kasozi is a graduate of Makerere University, Kampala and the University of Wales, United Kingdom with a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in financial economics respectively. He had post graduate training in portfolio management, oil economics and marketing, fixed income portfolio management, financial mathematics, financial market development, consultancy skills, capacity building in market and asset management operations, management of international reserves, sovereign wealth fund management and housing finance, among others, in various reputable universities and other institutions.
His working experience was in the areas of economic policy research, international reserves management policy and operations, central bank foreign exchange market operations, domestic money and capital market operations in pursuit of monetary policy objectives, trade finance, banking and currency (bank notes) operations.
Over the years, he designed and conducted seminars, workshops and consultancies in East, Central, Southern and West Africa. The workshops and seminars covered subjects ranging from management of international reserves, monetary policy and operations, treasury management, central bank foreign exchange market operations, money and capital market instruments to risk management in financial market operations. He brings knowledge, experience and expertise which will be of great benefit to AFRITAC East member countries
