Mr. Onesmus Ayaya joins IMF East AFRITAC

FAD (Fiscal Affairs Department, IMF) and AFE (East AFRITAC) have selected the third Public Financial Management Advisor for East AFRITAC. Following a vacancy announcement on the IMF website, the PFM Blog, and the regional press, the IMF received 156 applications and shortlisted ten potential candidates. The Fiscal Affairs Department conducted the interviews in coordination with the East AFRITAC. In arriving at its decision, the interview panel took into consideration current and future skills needs in AFE, based on ongoing work programs. The successful candidate, Mr. Onesmus Ayaya, brings a mix of skills to the AFE.

Onesmus Ayaya, a Kenyan national with South African citizenship, holds an MBA in Business Administration - Accounting and Finance Concentration from University of Nairobi, Kenya. Mr. Ayaya has wide experience working within the National Treasury and the Department of Water Affairs in South Africa, advising and managing the practical implementation of PFM reforms. In addition, he has strong background in academia, as Director of the School of Accountancy at the University of Johannesburg, which can be an additional advantage that Mr. Ayaya would bring to the capacity building agenda of AFE. Mr. Ayaya is a qualified accountant, with broad experience with budget preparation and execution processes in practice.
