Course on Monetary and Exchange Rate Policy
The course aims at enhancing participants’ understanding of monetary and exchange rate policies, with a particular focus on monetary frameworks and inflation targeting (see attached program). It covers discussions of the monetary transmission mechanism, monetary policy frameworks, exchange rate regimes, determinants and diagnosis of inflation, capital controls, and equilibrium real exchange rates.
Plenary sessions and workshops will concentrate on inflation targeting (IT) and a small model will be used to demonstrate the operation of an IT framework. The course will be led by a team of economists from the IMF’s Institute for Capacity Development (ICD).
