Advert for Economist Position

The Economist works closely with the Center Director, playing an important role in managing the Center’s work plan, supporting the implementation of the IMF results-based management framework, supporting outreach activities, and contributing to the main publications and analyses. S/he also supports resident advisors (RAs, the Center’s experts) in their activities of capacity development (CD). Deadline for Application is May 26, 2025.

The Steering Committee of the IMF’s Regional Technical Assistance Center for East Africa (AFRITAC East) successfully concluded its 26th Steering Committee Meeting and Seminars, held over two days in a hybrid format.

IMF AFRITAC East 20 Years Anniversary Booklet

To commemorate the achievements achieved and capture invaluable lessons learned, AFRITAC East prepared five notes covering the key workstreams on public financial management (PFM) and macrofiscal policy (MFP), revenue mobilization, financial supervision and regulation, national accounts statistics, and government financial statistics. These notes highlight some of AFRITAC East’s successes over the past 20 years and distill the collective experiences and insights gained across these critical domains. These notes can facilitate the exchange of knowledge and promote the adoption of proven strategies, thereby fostering capacity building and continued progress within the region.

Press Release - High-level Generation Equality Africa Regional Meeting concludes

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: Building upon the momentum of the Generation Equality’s Midpoint Summit in New York held in September 2023, the high-level meeting in Dar-es-Salaam that was held from November 15 and followed by a two-day-workshop during November 16-17 was convened by the Government of Tanzania with support from UN Women and IMF Regional Technical Assistance Center for East Africa ( (AFRITAC East). Tanzania has committed to the Generation Equality Initiative and made significant progress under the Action Coalition on Economic Rights.

The Steering Committee of the IMF’s Regional Technical Assistance Center for East Africa (AFRITAC East) completed a two-day hybrid event consisting of its 25th Steering Committee Meeting and Seminars chaired by Dr. Susan Koech, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya (July 12 – 13, 2023, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania). The Steering Committee members discussed AFRITAC East operations in fiscal year 2023, its planned work program for fiscal year 2024, and several thematic topics of significant interest to member countries.

The Steering Committee of the International Monetary Fund (IMF)’s East Africa Regional Technical Assistance Center (East AFRITAC) held its 23rd meeting virtually on July 15-16, 2021. The Committee commended the East AFRITAC’s efforts and innovation in supporting member countries’ response to economic disruptions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing support for existing reform programs.
